What We Do
American Legion Auxiliary women are women of action. When we see a need, we step in to meet it. When we determine that a greater effort is required, we collaborate with others. When an issue requires a legislative solution, we advocate for it. When a person's service is noteworthy, we honor it. To prepare the next generation for service, we include them.

Mission Outreach Programs | Learn More
With some 850,000 members and 9,500 units across the U.S., the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support The American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and Country, we advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace, and security.

Gateway to Services | Learn More
As America remains engaged in the longest war in our country’s history, our active duty servicemembers, veterans, and their families often have needs and are not sure what help is available. The Auxiliary has decades of experience working with service providers and linking those in the military community who are in need with appropriate assistance. Whether it’s a question about education benefits or a need for legal help, we have set up this Gateway to Services as a "one stop shop" to connect those in need with the resources that may meet that need.

Call to Service Corps | Learn More
The Call to Service Corps is supported by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), a federal agency that administers the AmeriCorps, AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America), and other national service programs. The CNCS is now the ALA’s largest external funder, investing more than $1 million of human resources and financial support into the ALA Call to Service Corps.

Scholarships | Learn More
The American Legion Auxiliary believes that the more knowledge our young people gain, the better citizens they will become. That is why the organization is so committed to education. Investing in the education of our young people is investing in the future of our country.

Time and again we hear about the difference an American Legion Auxiliary scholarship has made in a person’s life, providing unimagined experiences and opening up a world of opportunities. The Auxiliary supports a number of scholarship programs that benefit veterans, the children of our veterans, and the members of the organizations within The Legion Family.

Awards | Learn More
The American Legion Auxiliary mission—to serve veterans, their families, and their communities—is more important than ever, particularly now that so many of our military are deployed overseas and returning from active duty. We seek to multiply our efforts by encouraging others to do the same and recognizing those who already have their sleeves rolled up. To this end, the American Legion Auxiliary has established an award program to note and honor outstanding accomplishments in service to our veterans, their families, and their communities, both within the organization and throughout the greater society.

Collaborations | Learn More
“A cord of three strands is not easily broken.” This bit of ancient wisdom has much truth for us today. The American Legion Auxiliary recognizes the benefits of collaborating with other mission-compatible individuals and organizations. These relationships allow us to give more, serve more, and do more for our veterans, their families, and their communities. Whether it is through raising awareness, cross-promotion on websites, gifts-in-kind, or a myriad of other activities, the Auxiliary is actively engaged in the business of creative collaboration.
