Gateway to Services
Seeing a need and meeting a need require a different set of skills. The American Legion Auxiliary's goal is to do both for our veterans, active duty military, and their families. It is a big undertaking, and one that we pursue with compassion and efficiency through our Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, Poppy, National Security, and Legislative mission outreach programs. By providing emotional, financial, and physical comfort for America’s heroes, we hope that they will recognize the gratitude and respect we feel for the sacrifices they have made. Click on the program names to the right for details and read below about additional ways we meet the needs of our veterans, active duty military, and their families every day on a very practical level.

Services for Veterans, Active Duty, and Military Families

As America remains engaged in the longest war in our country’s history, our active duty servicemembers, veterans, and their families often have needs and are not sure what help is available. The Auxiliary has decades of experience working with service providers and linking those in the military community who are in need with appropriate assistance. Whether it’s a question about education benefits or a need for legal help, we have set up this Gateway to Services as a "one stop shop" to connect those in need with the resources that may meet that need.

Last year alone, American Legion Auxiliary members in Florida raised nearly $10,000 for Operation: Military Kids and sent 90 children of deployed military to camp. In New Jersey, $11,000 worth of phone cards and 100 cell phones were donated to facilitate day-to-day communication between active duty military and their families.  Read more...
