In the spirit of God and country, our members serve veterans, military and their families. Members across thenation embrace the value of Service Not Self as they seek out veterans, military and their family members who need assistance to improve the quality of their lives. Their service can be as simple as making a weekly phone call to a homebound veteran or as complicated as adopting the family of a deployed military member and assisting them throughout their servicemember’s deployment. We honor the service of our country’s veterans—the face of our freedom. We welcome women of all ages and diverse backgrounds to join us in service as we, in turn, serve to honor the service of the veteran who gave us our membership eligibility. |

The power of The American Legion Family to enact change in this country, to meet the needs of our veterans and their families and to provide caring support for its members makes me proud to belong. I know what we do makes a real difference in the lives of individuals. And that’s what being a part of a family is all about. |

I am a proud member of The American Legion Family. Our Family is responsible for many things to benefit so many—veterans and their families, members, nonmembers and other organizations. We do these things, well, why? It’s simple: We work as a family and help each other with our programs so we can be successful. For me personally, it is the support and mentoring by members of The American Legion Family that has given me many opportunities I may not have had. I believe in what we do because we do them together as The American Legion Family! |
