  • Dubbie Buckler

    National Secretary/Executive Director: Mary "Dubbie" Buckler is a lifelong resident of the greater Indianapolis area where she has earned a reputation as a caring leader in business, public service, elective office, and civic service. She is an accomplished business executive with an impressive background in management, finance, and issue advocacy. Her career path reveals a strong commitment to serving where she can make a difference in people’s lives by giving back to the community. Dubbie is also proud to have served as the Federalist Party chair at Hoosier Girls State during high school, and while in college, as one of only five full colonels in the United States in Angel Flight, an honorary to the Air Force ROTC.


    PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

    Weiss Communications, Inc., Indianapolis Woman Magazine, Associate Publisher
    2008-2009

    Dubbie led the growth of the Custom Publishing, Sales, and Projects and Promotions divisions of the largest circulation consumer publication in Indiana (monthly readership of 210,000).

    Y-ME Breast Cancer Organization of Indiana, Indiana Affiliate, Chief Executive Officer 
    2001-2008

    As CEO, Dubbie increased the support base and outreach of this volunteer-based organization by more than 500 percent and exceeded fundraising targets by raising more than $1.5 million for the 2.5 FTE staff operation. She managed events with 1,100 attendees, is a certified trainer for breast health awareness, and is among a small group of biogenetically-trained national research advocates. 

    Indiana Assisted Living Federation of America, President & Executive Director 
    1999-2000
    Dubbie served as the first president and CEO for the assisted living industry’s professional trade association in Indiana and achieved 500 percent membership growth in the start-up year. She provided professional development, communication, public education, and legislative advocacy for more than 300 assisted living providers and industry business partners.

    In her role with this subsidiary of Anthem Inc., she sought and analyzed new business opportunities, developed an internal communications plan, and restructured the company’s employee incentive plan.

    Indianapolis/Marion County, County Treasurer, ex-officio County Commissioner 
    1989-1997

    When elected Marion County treasurer and while serving the consolidated city-county government for Indianapolis and Marion County known as UNI-GOV, Dubbie’s innovative leadership earned her the national honor of “Outstanding County Treasurer in the United States,” an award singularly bestowed by an independent panel of national judges.

    Before venturing into elective office, Dubbie served to improve the criminal and juvenile justice systems, heading the Juvenile Division of the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office and establishing Indiana’s exemplary Adult Protective Services Program dedicated to detecting and protecting abused and neglected older adults. 

    Dubbie received her undergraduate degree with honors from Butler University in Indianapolis, Ind., on a full academic scholarship. She completed a two-year graduate fellowship in judicial administration at the Indiana University School of Law, where she ranked first in this unique master's level business and law program.

    Committed to civic leadership, Dubbie continues to serve on the board of the Butler University College of Business Administration as well as on many nonprofit boards and commissions. Her service has earned her many awards, including the Greater Indianapolis YMCA Woman of the Year, Network of Women in Business honoree, and a Girls Inc. National Resource Center honoree. Dubbie also values family time with her two young adult sons, one working in Washington, D.C., and the other in college. Despite a knee injury that has forced her to slow down, Dubbie has run 12 marathons and 37 half marathons, walking now as her arthritis allows.
