“What an amazing and creative way to tell your story,” Brand Growth Advocate Shanna Gregor said to the Communications Team at National Headquarters as she opened a box from Gold Star Unit 191 in Mount Airy, Md. The box revealed a letter, a thumb drive containing a video of Unit 191’s project, and two unique and fun Twiddlemuffs.
“While [2016-2017] National President Mary Davis made her official visit to Maryland in April of this year, members of Gold Star Unit 191 discussed with her our new service project in which we assist veterans in the memory care units at local VA hospitals and nursing homes,” wrote Unit President Diane Lowe in the letter. “The unit’s Stitches of Love Crochet Group recently made and delivered eighty Twiddlemuffs to a local nursing home. Twiddlemuffs keep the patients’ hands busy throughout the day and serve as great entertainment.
“After hearing about our new endeavor, National President Mary asked that we videotape the making of these Twiddlemuffs so we can share with all members of the ALA,” Lowe explained. Click here to watch Unit 191’s video.
“Gold Star Unit 191 is proud to be serving our nation's heroes,” she continued. “They served our country; we will now serve them!”
